Never again will I rent from Oakmore Properties! The whole experience has been dreadful as soon as I signed the lease! The flat was overpriced, heating was constantly faulty and there were no security measures in place whatsoever. However the main problems were not caused by the flat itself but by the company. I started noticing things being moved about my flat, I came home to cupboards being open, dishes being used and on one occasion someone had urinated over my bathroom toilet and floor! It is important to note that I lived alone and was the only keyholder apart from the Landlord and Oakmore. One day I came home to find that my living room sofas had all been pulled out along with my TV, showing signs of workmen being in, I was giving NO notification that anyone was to be entering my flat. On top of this, whoever had been in had broken 2 legs of my coffee table that I had bought myself. On another occasion I went away for a few days after putting in £50 of gas, when I came back, my gas had been turned on and left on, costing me £40 of gas! This was before winter and as a student I couldn’t afford to put anymore in. As I lived alone I could not confront Oakmore about it as I had no hard proof and they could instantly deny being involved, also because they very cleverly seemed to know when I was not in the flat which increased my paranoia. I even started locking my bedroom door at night. I lost a lot of sleep and had to go to the doctor due to stress. Even when I did contact Oakmore, it took several emails/texts/calls to get a reply. I finished my lease with them over 3 weeks ago now and have only just received my deposit back after many emails, to which they blamed it on the landlord. Bottom line is that they DO NOT CARE about their tenants as long as you have signed a lease. I would avoid this company completely.
